It used intimidation and fear to stop counter protesters from exercising their first ammendment rights. People were afraid to come out on the streets and local businesses closed, hurting the economy. Douglas Dietrich saw on video footage protesters carrying assault rifles and grenade launchers designed to take down helicopters.
