Guns manufactured in the United States flow south to Mexico and Central American countries in a river of iron and blood. Made-in-USA guns fuel the gang violence that drive so many refugees across the Southern US Border. Women and children are fleeing for their lives, yet Trump continuously pushes the false narrative that THEY, the refugees, are the real threat. Fox news and Alt Right media outlets promoted propaganda about the immigrant “caravan” ahead of the 2018 midterm elections to galvanize their elderly and racist Republican voter base. Meanwhile, white male republicans commit more violent crimes and domestic terrorism in the US than immigrants or Islamic extremists.
Statistics prove that Right To Carry laws increase violent crimes; they do not help protect the public like NRA propaganda claims. In the shooting in Kentucky on 10/26/18, another white man was carrying a firearm. He could have shot the active gunman and stopped him from killing black people in a grocery store, but the gunman told him, “whites don’t shoot whites,” so the other armed man let him go. During an incident in Chicago on 11/12/18, a black security officer was killed by police while he was doing his job trying to detain an active shooter in the bar where he worked.
Republican states forced the Department of Homeland Security to withdraw a report on reactionary right and white supremacist terrorism (which was on the rise after the election of a black president, Obama) because, you know, Putin’s political correctness is only for whites. Trump also removed funding for programs aimed at rehabilitating domestic white supremacist terrorists.
Trump’s non-response to epidemic gun violence is indicative that he WANTS this to happen. He is sponsored by the NRA (National Rifle Association) which is essentially a branch of the Russian military. THEY WANT TO KILL YOU. The ongoing epidemic of gun violence in our country needs to be addressed seriously as an urgent public health issue.
6 Steps to Reduce Gun Violence Across America:
- Require licensing and registration for gun ownership. Follow the example of vehicle safety.
- Allow protective restraining orders to confiscate guns.
- Pediatricians must be able to educate families about gun safety.
- Smart gun technology can prevent accidental gun deaths and crimes and suicides committed with someone else’s firearm.
- Lift restrictions on gun research funding.
- Hold gun manufacturers responsible.
